Medica, “Michele di Matteo”, in: La pittura in Italia. Il Quattrocento, edited by / a cura di Federico Zeri, Milan / Milano 1987, II, p. 711. The present work is related to a fragmented triptych whose central panel showing an enthroned Virgin and Child is in the Kotroceni Museum in Bucharest and whose left wing is preserved in the Museo Civico in Pesaro. The panel in Pesaro has been attributed to Michele di Matteo on the basis of comparison with secured works by this artist. We thank Dr. Everett Fahy for confirming the attribution of the present painting.
